Run a Workshop

In addition to traditional paper presentations, ATRF 2026 invites proposals for interactive workshops (90 minutes in duration) that encourage active participation, critical discussion, and practical skill-building.

Workshops should be designed to go beyond presentation-style delivery and instead foster collaboration between researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and industry, with a strong focus on translating research, data, and emerging technologies into real-world transport outcomes.

Workshop development and program integration

To ensure workshops are well integrated into the overall conference program, accepted workshop proposals will be refined in collaboration with the Local Organising Committee. This refinement process may involve adjustments to session structure, format, facilitation approach, or timing to ensure alignment with program objectives, participant experience, and logistical considerations. Proponents will be supported through this process to maximise the impact and effectiveness of their workshop.

Workshop themes may include (but are not limited to):

  • Translating transport research and data analytics into policy, planning, and operational practice
  • Emerging technologies shaping transport futures (e.g. AI, digital twins, connected and autonomous systems, MaaS, smart infrastructure)
  • Innovative methods, tools, and frameworks for transport modelling, evaluation, and decision-making
  • Leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement in complex transport projects
  • Designing transport systems that are inclusive, resilient, safe, and sustainable

We particularly welcome workshop proposals that:

  • Actively involve participants through discussion, exercises, or demonstrations
  • Bring together multiple perspectives across academia, government, and industry
  • Challenge established thinking and explore new approaches to transport problems
